About the Journal

Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education is a Nordic and international, open access peer-reviewed journal that publishes high quality original articles about research in the field of arts education, sports education and physical education. The journal welcomes articles about research in:

1. all arts educational subjects as music, dance, drama & theatre, visual arts, film, literature as well as research in aesthetic approaches to learning and cross-curricular projects within the art subjects.
2. all sports and physical educational subjects / fields as well as research in physical literacy, embodiment, performance, movement, experience with and assessment within the subjects.
3. cross-curricular projects or philosophical-theoretical research across the field of arts, sports and physical education.

The journal is looking for studies that present and debate contemporary, innovative and high qualitative arts / sports / physical educational research, policy, development and changes in teaching and learning in the arts, sports and physical educational subjects in a variety of school types, like pre-school, primary school, secondary school, high school, folk high school, municipal school of music and performing arts, after school activities, private initiatives, charity organisations, community based activities, professional activities, further education, higher education and teacher education. The journal is especially interested in the increasing number of research projects situated in the flux between artistic, teaching and research activity.

Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education welcomes research from a variety of methodological and theoretical approaches to inquiry around arts and sports education. The journal invites studies that investigate the nature and use of research in arts and sports education as fields of development, inquiry and critical examination.

Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education readers include educators, researchers, teachers, artists, teaching artists, athletes, educational leaders and policy makers.

In addition to peer-reviewed articles, Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education also publishes editorials and reviews of Nordic arts or sports educational literature. The journal also publishes special issues around themes suggested by the editorial board.
